Connecting to the AlpheeSchool hotComm presentation
Room
Please review these instructions
completely before you begin.
Before we begin the installation process there are 2
things to mention.
First, you’ll need to Type
in your name (please use your real name so we can identify you when you sign
into the class room) to use with hotComm.
Your name will appear in the side bar for enrollment as you enter
the classroom.
Second, take note that your Password to enter the room is: kim
(This
is the password that you will use after you have installed the classroom
software and you first get into the program.)
The classroom program installation
process
To enter the AlpheeSchool room, you must first
install hotComm CL. Either click on the link below or type the address
into your browser window and click “go” or hit “enter.”
This
link brings you to a web page entitled: Download hotComm CL (with Room Shortcut Builder)
Simply
follow the instructions in the “How to Install” section of the page to
install the product.
Step
1 Start Installing the hotComm CL Program
Begin
by double clicking on this big BLUE DOWNLOAD HOTCOMM CL icon button.
In the next Dialog box
click
“Open” or “Run”:
Step 2 Create
your Room Connection Shortcut
Towards
the end of the installation process you'll see this dialog box:
Answer
YES
Next
you'll see the following dialog asking for the Relay and Room. Enter the information exactly
as shown:
Now
click OK.
Next, you'll see this dialog:
Click
NO, then press Finish.
The installation will now finish.
Step 3
Enter
Your Information
After the installation finishes “Your CL
Identity” dialog box will automatically pop up. Enter the “NAME”
you chose and also enter your email
address. Click “OK” and the window will close.
Step 4
Signing On
to AlpheeSchool
At this point you should now have an icon on your
desktop that looks like the one below:
To enter the AlpheeSchool room, double click on this
icon. You should now see a
“Session Password” window.
Type in the password you were given.
Click OK.
Note that the
hotComm CL installer also places 3 things on your desktop; A generic
hotComm CL icon and 2 folder shortcuts (Tscripts and Uploads).
You may delete these if present to avoid confusion.
You’ll use the special connection icon shown above to connect to
the room.
Installation
Tips
1.
During
the installation of hotComm, your firewall may ask if hotComm should be
given certain permissions. Be
sure to say YES to everything asked and that these permissions should
ALWAYS be granted.
2.
If
you run into any problems at any time during the installation, you may
re-start the installation from the beginning.
Don’t worry, this will not hurt anything and there is no need to
remove the previous installation.
3.
After
you type “open” or “run” to start the installation process, you
should minimize your Web browser to ensure you’ll see all the
installation prompts.
Usage Tips
Problems Hearing or Seeing
If you have problems
hearing or seeing during a session, the first thing to try is to exit
hotComm CL completely and log back into the room.
To exit the program, locate the hotComm CL icon in the systray as
shown below:
Now right-click on that icon and you’ll see the
following menu:
Choose Exit and wait for the icon to disappear.
Then double-click on the connection icon, enter your password, and
you’ll be back in the room.
